The course covers the key principles of Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMC) and is highly recommended for all members who sit on this committee. It covers topics on the NSW emergency management arrangements, the LEMC member roles and responsibilities and the functions of the LEMC.

The course is aimed for those who support or are members of a Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC).
On completion of this program, participants will be able to:
Define key emergency management and committee terms
Describe the emergency management arrangements in NSW
Identify key roles within the LEMC
List the responsibilities of LEMC members
Identify the main functions of the LEMC.
There is no formal assessment for this course. However, there is a knowledge quiz on completion of each module with a pass mark is of 80%. Three attempts are allowed for the quiz after which time the learner will have to redo the module before they can attempt the quiz again.

The Welfare Services Functional Area delivers key welfare services to meet the immediate needs of disaster affected people (children, adults, and/or families) and administers Disaster Relief Grants for eligible applicants. The Key Welfare Services are defined as emergency accommodation, catering, personal support, material aid, immediate financial assistance and disaster relief grants.
